Floyd
Odom
Floyd and his wife Madge were married in Tennessee June
26, 1967. Both attended Abilene Christian University,
as well as their two children, David and Allison. Floyd
and Madge will celebrate their 33rd wedding anniversary
this year. As a teenager, Floyd became a Christian. After
becoming an adult, he served as a deacon in the Church
at two separate congregations before coming to Westside
Church of Christ, where he has served as an elder for
seven years. He has seen Westside Church of Christ grow
from approximately 100 Christians without a permanent
facility to what it is today. In addition to his serving
as an elder in the Church, Floyd has been employed as
an administrator in the Austin Independent School District,
and will begin his 40th year as an educator in the fall
of 2000. As an elder, Floyd serves with four other men.
He firmly believes that we are to glorify God "in
the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world
without end." As one studies the scriptures, it is
increasingly clear that the Church of Jesus Christ has
an identity in the New Testament. It is our duty as believers
and Christians to follow the established pattern. As Paul
declared in 1 Corinthians, "For no other foundation
can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus
Christ." At Westside Church of Christ, we are committed
to preserving the identity of the New Testament Church.
